Errrmygod the start of new months is always bitter sweet for me. Part of me is excited for a fresh start with fresh intentions and the other part of me is like WAAAIT time is flying way too fast. Before I dive into a full August intentions post, we have to end July on a fun note with some wellness favorites & updates!
How has your summer been so far? I’ll be totally honest (and most of you already know this) in that moving across the country on my own took AWHILE to adjust to. More so than I though. This summer was meant for me to take a step back from things and breathe. This didn’t necessarily happen. Sigh. June was a doozy trying to move and figure out all the things then come July I put a lot on my plate in terms of working multiple jobs, managing my dietetic internship work and creating TNK content. Aside from that I had friends and family in town so playing hostess + tour guide was in full effect.
On top of that, anxiety got the best of me mos days and my nutrition/health was put on the back burner. It really came down to re evaluating my “plate” which I’ll get into in my August intentions post! It also comes down to seeing the past few months for what they were. A season of my life. A period of time that isn’t FOREVER. August is going to be a lot different in terms of relaxing, health and adventure before my internship kicks in FULL TIME.
I also have so many ideas and goals for TNK. Sometimes it’s difficult being a passionate person full of “ideas”. My creative mind and excitement is constantly running in and out of all the ideas; it can be overwhelming of where to start and HOW to go about them. In general, I love connecting with YOU. I want to create a valuable and down to earth platform that reflects me, but also genuinely touches you in some way. I’ll talk more about my TNK “goals” next week as we discuss intentions!
Until then lets dive into some wellness favorites for the month! It wasn’t ALL stress and craziness. There were great moments, new resources I learned about and FUN stuff that we’ll get into below 🙂
July Wellness Favorites & Updates
Travel: I didn’t make any MAJOR adventures this month (don’t worry, this girl is craving relaxing adventure time so something is in the works for August/September) but my bestie and I hit up PORTLAND, MAINE for the day on my birthday and had a blast! Favorites of the trip were local kombucha + cider distillery tasting from Urban Farm, Tuna Tartar dish + chilled white wine from Blythe and Burrows, and walking through Old Town!
Foodie Restaurant: I had the BEST oystahs of my life from B&G Oysters here in Boston with the lovely Sarah Fennel from Broma Bakery. You guys. I don’t even like oysters. And these completely changed my life. I’m like gimmealltheoysters everywhere I go now. Maybe New England just KNOWS WHATS UP? Also ROW 34 has the best seafood hands down. Best birthday dinnah ever.
Books: I’ll be honest, no “life inspo” books happened in July #sorryimnotsorry but I did get through the super fun Marriage Vacation and if you’re a mega fan of the show Younger, then you will understand why 🙂
Workouts: June and July in general my fitness routine was out of whack but I’m just starting to get in a REAL groove and it feels awesome. This past month I did get out of my comfort zone and try Core Power YOGA. Honestly, I didn’t LOVE it but I felt so refreshed & my mind felt clear afterwards. Plus slept like a baby. I want to keep giving yoga a try and go at least once per week. My body needs that kind of slow movement & flexibility ya know?
Mini Health Tip: This isn’t revolutionary or anything but for some reason I JUST started adding sliced lemon + himalyan pink sea salt to my water and LOVING it. I just started getting into a solid workout routine again so replenishing the body with electrolytes (sea salt) + digestion aid/healthier skin (lemon) has been doing wonders for me. I think?
Events: Vital Farms invited me to brunch they were hosting in Boston with some other super inspiring wellness professionals & bloggers. It was at Cultivar here in the city and such a pretty presentation! Besides that, I learned so much about ethical farming practices, what eggs we actually need to be shopping for (certified humane pasture raised) and the genuine nature this brand has for their product/farms. It warmed my heart and I felt so grateful they invited me!
Nutrition Tip: Add apple cider vinegar to your smoothies. Seriously JUST DO IT. So refreshing and alternative if you can’t stand taking a plain shot of it (I actually don’t mind it anymore but I’m also a lil weirdo). Follow my peach smoothie recipe for inspo!
Clothes: If I could afford it, THIS ROMPER is right up my alley (stripes + east coast beach vibes). I have been obsessed with these workout tanks from Athleta though. Great for strength training, outdoor running/hiking and wearing out on the town (tie in the back for optimal cuteness).
Skincare: I recently started using Rose Petal Witch Hazel as a toner before adding daily moisturizer and no joke, the difference in my skin is super noticeable. My skin tone feels more even, less tired, clear and has a dewy glow. It’s so hard to find natural products sometimes that actually work but I highly recommend this.
Fun Summer Nights: When Rachel was in town we went to this super fun outdoor rooftop bar called Outlook in Seaport. While the late night part scene is not my jam, this is great place to enjoy the nice weather right now and the VIEWS are awesome. Would love to go back for sunset.
Fitness Inspiration: This month I discovered the website FITT.CO and LOVE it. It shows all the upcoming fitness events, classes, wellness ideas, etc. based on your city. It’s legit. My friend Stephanie and I have already signed up for a sunset yoga cruise in August! Can’t wait.
Recipe Inspiration: I’m DYING to try these Chickpea Blondies ,and these Meal Prep Friendly Lunch Ideas for long work days.
Alright lovelies, I’m sure I’m missing some things but wanted to keep this post light and fun! Any July discoveries for you? Wellness tips? Adventure ideas? Share away 🙂 Have a great weekend and BRB until next week! My pops is in town this weekend so lots more site seeing and restaurants planned. XOXO
